*important info: Our dear Syn does unfortunately have an umbilical hernia. Some people call these "outie" belly buttons. This occurs when the "belly button" comes outward rather than inward like most dogs. Depending on the severity of the hernia, this can be a life threatening issue. Luckily, Syn's hernia is closed and a non-issue. Hernia's can be genetic, but we believe Syn's was simply because from her mom pulling a little too hard while chewing off her umbilical cord. We will be monitoring Syn's pups very closely to make sure this doesn't happen, and if for any chance it is genetic, we will be removing Syn from our breeding program (not from our family though!).
Her puppies will not be sold for less money if they do have this issue, but it will be fully disclosed, and they will be sold on a strict pet contract. Dependent on the severity of the hernia, we will offer assistance to correct the problem surgically.

Syn is the first dog in our breeding program to have a natural tail and dewclaws. I am in love! What does this mean for the future of Synthemum's Poodles? It means that future litters will remain natural. Tails and dewclaws will be kept. Syn will be our pioneering poodle on this positive change!
I am so excited to see where the following years lead us with Syn!
